Delightfully Devastating Love
I recently watched a video describing Albert Einstein’s Special Theory of Relativity, which basically concludes time is relative. In other words, the rate at which time passes depend on your frame of reference. Our time is personal to us. There is no such thing as absolute time. Likewise, our experience of Love is personal. Something I wrote while at Mountain TOP with our youth group last summer was, “Love in the abstract is grace unguided, left to our thinking about it, which in the tumult of our passions is unrestrained and misunderstood.” In other words, the only way to know love is to experience love in the immediacy of our living. Jesus stood among the disciples and invited them to touch him. He gave them fish, and he took some and ate it in their presence. He embodied love—the Word made flesh and dwelling among us! Jesus is God’s love actualized!
