In His Name

What’s in a name? I’m pastor, father, husband, son, and friend. My given name is “Donald.” One interpretation of my name that I like is: Don means “Lord” and “ald” means “grow up,” or “to grow up.” So, “Donald” can mean to “grow up in the Lord.” I like that. I am growing up in the Lord every day. Jesus told his disciples (now apostles, from the Greek “Apostolos”) to make disciples by baptizing them in the NAME of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Why baptize in the name of the Trinity? Because each name means something specific and unique in our discipleship, just like each name given to me means something different to those whose who call me by those names.
