Mercy Breaks the Numbness

This Sunday begins a summer series where we will walk through a portion of the Bible many may never have journeyed, the “minor prophets.” We will spend time with Obadiah, Nahum, Amos, Micah and more. Each prophet spoke to God’s people—the Israelites—at different times in their history, including exile, occupation, under good kings and during the reign of some of the worst. A prophet conveys a message from God or teaches the Word of God in new ways for God’s people. This Sunday we begin with a message from the prophet Hosea, during the Assyrian occupation and is one of the earliest of the minor prophets. Although the prophets are written for a particular time and circumstances, the message to God’s people is timeless!
