The Day of the Lord

When I was about 8 years old, I decided there were too many rules at my house, and I didn’t like the punishments that were being doled out, so it was time to pack my bags and get out. I declared I was running away. “That’ll show my parents,” I thought to myself. The only problem, my dad helped me pack my bags, he walked me to the door, told me he’d miss me, and wished me well. I had to follow through with the threat. The only problem was I got past the Ammon’s house, and I was in a foreign land. I was far from home and did know what I was going to do. As I think about that I realize—be careful what you ask for… you just might get it. Amos tells the Israelites, be careful what you ask for… you just might get it.
