All Things Being Equal ...
I read an interpretation of the phrase, “All things being equal” which said that it commonly means that “if everything happens as expected, then….” Peter, James and John ascended Mt. Tabor with Jesus and experienced something transformative, literally, which they did not expect. Jesus was transfigured into gleaming light, and they saw Moses and Elijah with Jesus. Their response, as expected by their faith practice was to honor Moses, Elijah and Jesus equally with the building of three memorial tabernacles (dwelling places) for each of them. But all things were not equal at the pinnacle of Mt. Tabor, nor are they now. “THIS is my Son, the beloved; with him I am well pleased; listen to him! At that they only saw Jesus, alone. All things were not equal.
