Well… That’s Something!

I’ve read the story sometimes called “the Samaritan women at the well” many times. It is a story rich with imagery and many, lessons learned over the years; So rich in fact, I’ve overlooked something every time before: the Samaritan women identifies the well as being given by their ancestor, Jacob. “Jacob’s well” is still there. For over two millennia water has been drawn from this well. A well is a source of life, it represents possession, and it builds community. The history of the well in the story of the Samaritan woman enhances the power of the story in so many ways, which are only understood when you realize the significance of well throughout the history of God’s people. Join me this Sunday as we draw from the deep waters of the well of faith.
