What Is It to You?

On at least a weekly, if not a daily basis we pray, “Your kingdom come, Your will be done…” As I thought about this, I realized that I often think that I know what God’s will is, so what I’m really praying is, “Okay God, we know what needs to be done, so let’s do it. I don’t usually stop long enough to think about the real possibility, if not the probability, that what I want may be different than what God’s will is for me and the world. When Jesus teaches us to pray, “Thy will be done,” he’s reminding us to trust. Peter can’t help but ask Jesus about the future, about John, to which Christ simply responds. “what is that to you? Follow me!” God’s will is for us to follow, not ask questions.”
