The First Great Commission

Whenever someone thinks of the so-called “Great Commission,” they’re likely thinking of Matthew 28, and if so, they think of Matthew 28: 16-20, where Jesus tells the disciples to “Go, Make, Do” But the FIRST great sending happens just before that in Matthew 28, when Jesus tells Mary Magdalene and Mary to “Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me” If not for this commission, there would be no “great commission” by Jesus. Mary and Mary, after finding the tomb empty, were hurrying to tell the disciples what they saw when Jesus appeared to them. They fell down and worshipped Him. Jesus said, "Do not be afraid… Go and tell….” The FIRST order of discipleship, then, is: worship, go, tell!
