Sitting By the River
Jan 8, 2023 • Pastor Don Long
David, in Psalm 23, longs for “still waters.” The Hebrew word for “still” means: resting, easy, or quiet. He paints a picture of the shepherd leading sheep to quiet, restful, easy waters. Over the next six weeks I will be preaching a new series about my experience on the Camino de Santiago last fall. One of my first lessons came while sitting by a river, where I learned more about quiet waters. In the gospel of Mark, upon the return of the disciples from being sent out two by two into the mission field, Jesus invited them away “to a quiet place” to get some rest. The quiet places in our lives are important for our faith development. I invite you to join us in the quiet places this Sunday!
